Toormina Hotel announced as ETC Employer of the Month

Toormina Hotel has been announced as the Enterprise & Training Company Limited (ETC) Employer of the Month.

The local pub which has been operational for over 40 years is currently under new management and has recently undergone some renovations.

Regional Manager Pearl Beynon hoped the fresh new outlook would create a different vibe for them.

“We’re trying to make it a family friendly pub. We’ve had huge changes by creating the bistro, kitchen and seating area,” Ms Beynon said.

“Plus we now have entertainment for children so parents can relax.”

Ms Beynon’s role has been to set up the new section and organise staff needed to cater for the expansion.

“The recent renovations have created more jobs for the region with the hotel having employed a dozen new employees,” Ms Beynon said.

“We’ve tried really hard to employ locals and we have now doubled the amount of staff we employ.

It’s fantastic to be awarded as ETC’s Employer of the Month and to be recognised for employing some local people. We’re absolutely thrilled.”

When recruiting for new staff Ms Beynon looks for staff that are honest, reliable and punctual.

“We can train and guide our staff but we really need people who have enthusiasm, are keen and committed,” Ms Beynon said.

“Our staff are important to us and we support them as much as we can.”

Ms Beynon encouraged other businesses to use an employment provider to assist with their recruitment needs.

“We needed a large number of new staff with the recent expansion and couldn’t have done this without having gone through an employment provider. You can advertise for staff but at least when they come through a provider you can get some background knowledge,” Ms Beynon said.

“It has been convenient having a recruitment service nearby. We have formed a really good working relationship with the local ETC team.”

Toormina Hotel is located beside Centro Toormina Shopping Centre. The hotel envisages the renovations to be completed mid-February and encourages the local community to come and check it out.
