Certificate III in Individual Support outcome

Debra and Chelsea were two students who completed ETC’s Certificate III in Individual Support. As a result, both successfully gained employment in their new careers and are absolutely loving it.

What enticed you to undertake the Certificate III in Individual Support training?

Debra

“I spent 32 years at my last employment in the Accounts Department. I just knew I needed a change but I didn’t know what.”

Chelsea

“Previous to this, I was working in Hospitality but it just wasn’t for me. I’ve always been curious about the health industry, wanting to understand how I could help people.”

What was the training process like?

Debra

“I went and had an interview with ETC first before I decided to go ahead with the course and just felt at ease with them. So I thought I’d start this and see how I go. Rhonda the ETC Trainer was amazing, the class was great, everyone got along so well, it was really good. I completed my 120 work placement hours at Omni Care in their day centre – dementia ward. I’m so glad I decided to do this.”

Chelsea

 “So I did my training with ETC, started my work experience at the beginning of the year with Bethany Aged Care and finished in May. I learned how to look after people, what their needs are, how to meet those needs and make sure they’re as comfortable as can be.”

What was the outcome for you after completing the Certificate III in Individual Support?

Debra

“Omni Care have offered me a job in their dementia centre and home care with disabilities. Which has come from the course that I completed with ETC and what I’ve learned. It’s great, I get so much enjoyment out of it. It’s good to know that I’ve actually been able to help someone – I’m learning from them and they’re learning from me.”

 Chelsea

 “A month later I was offered a job with Bethany Aged Care. I get to help the residents get ready for their day, prepare them for bed, feed them and make sure they’re ok. I talk to them when they need someone to listen. I get pretty excited to come to work – it makes me happy coming here and helping them.
