Bethany Aged Care being awarded their certificate and hamper

The Salvation Army’s Bethany Aged Care Centre in Port Macquarie has been awarded as the ETC Employer of the Month.

According to Bethany Manager Nick Bannon, their staff and Chaplain went beyond the clinical to cater for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of their residents.

“We’re very proud of what we’ve been able to achieve with one of our big focus points for Bethany to become a real teaching facility,” Mr Bannon said.

“So for us to take on students from the local area and teach them what we call the “Bethany Way” whilst looking to achieve that gold standard of care. Not just people who want a job, but people who actually care.”

Bethany joined ETC’s VIP Training Partnership program, to give local job seekers access to supportive and practical training.

“Training is really important ongoing with Aged Care because people’s skills are needing to be updated. ETC is able to tick the box for us with that – specifically around Dementia training and their wide range of training programs available,” said Louise Gallagher, Bethany Aged Care Centre Manager.

“We’ve recently employed 5 of the graduates from ETC’s Individual Support and Intro2Care programs. We were able to support them in the initial stage where they were just starting to learn how to do things – right through to the Certificate III and getting their 120 hours of supported work here onsite.”

Bethany Aged Care Centre is a warm and inviting aged care centre offering all levels of care including short term respite care and community care packages. For more information visit https://agedcare.salvos.org.au/bethany-aged-care-centre/
