Kempsey’s River Street Early Learning Centre has been announced as the Enterprise & Training Company Limited (ETC) July Employer of the Month.
Directors and owners Robert and Katherine Wilson said they were honoured to receive such recognition.
“We haven’t been in operation for very long (4 months), so to be picked for an award such as this really boosts our confidence,” Mrs Wilson said.
According to the Wilson’s there are many traits that make a good employer.
“A good employer is someone who is flexible and willing to work with and accommodate their employees,” Mrs Wilson said.
“They immerse themselves fully into the job and have a good relationship with staff.”
The Wilson’s have used the free recruitment services of Jobs Services Australia (JSA) providers such as ETC to fill their vacancies.
“We found the best staff member through ETC,” Mrs Wilson said.
“We couldn’t have asked for anyone better.
“Emily Fursey suited the job perfectly. She’s become a really valuable part of our team and we’re really lucky to get someone like that.”
ETC’s Employment Services Manager Leeanne Stewart said there were many benefits for employers who use JSA providers to fill their vacancy needs.
“We can take the time and hassle out of recruiting staff,” Ms Stewart said.
“We advertise and then carefully screen the candidates to ensure they match the employer’s needs and we can also organise the interviews.
“The best news is our services are free and we can also offer incentives to employers to help with the costs associated with putting on new staff, which can include: wage subsidies, support with training and assistance with licenses and tickets.”
The Wilson’s had one final tip to share with other employers.
“It’s really important to get to know people you are hiring as much as possible during the recruitment phase to ensure they’re a right fit for your organisation,” Mrs Wilson said.
