Health and aged care provider, St Vincent’s Care Services has been announced as the Enterprise & Training Company Limited (ETC) Employer of the Month.
Business Manager – Community Aged Care Peter Cooper said he was very proud to receive the recognition.
“It’s a great compliment to be recognised for how we manage our workforce,” Mr Cooper said.
According to Mr Cooper there are many traits that make a good employer.
“A good employer values their staff, treats them fairly and lets them have a voice,” Mr Cooper said.
“We invest a lot of money in our staff training and supervision. It’s crucial that our staff keep their skills up-to-date with the constantly changing industry that we work in.”
St Vincent’s Care Services is the largest Catholic provider of health and aged care in Australia covering Victoria, NSW and QLD.
“Aged Care is a large sector of the Australian community and will be the biggest employer in the coming years,” Mr Cooper said.
“We have an excellent reputation and our aim is to be an employer of choice.”
St Vincent’s have used ETC Training Services to up skill their existing staff as well as providing practical work placement to aged and community care students.
“There is a great partnership between St Vincent’s and ETC. It’s great to see that ETC puts faith in their training and their students,” Mr Cooper said.
ETC’s Training Manager for Queensland Paul Haywood said there had been some positive outcomes for training students across the Gold Coast region.
“Recently St Vincent’s have provided placement for 8 of our Southport students and as a result 4 of these students have been employed across the residential and community sectors in the region,” Mr Haywood said.
