ETC Announces St Vincent’s Lismore as Employer of the Month

St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Lismore has been announced as the Enterprise & Training Company Limited (ETC) Employer of the Month for February.

The hospital employs 500 staff across the campus, with around 300 of them involved with the hospital itself and the rest in other services such as residential aged care and childcare services.

St Vincent’s CEO Steve Brierley thanked ETC for the award and acknowledgement.

“It’s very exciting to receive the award. We like to think we’re an organisation that is well respected in the Lismore community, but it’s great when an organisation like ETC can equally acknowledge that,” Mr Brierley said.

“We aim to be an employer of choice and offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment. We provide salary packaging as a not-for-profit organisation and flexible working arrangements as most of our staff have families.”

Mr Brierley said the hospital was proud of having long-term staff, some of whom had been employed for close to forty years.

“Each year we celebrate our staff’s length of service and we offer many opportunities for staff to progress in their careers,” Mr Brierley said.

Operating theatre support worker Ian Gregory said he had been happily employed at St Vincent’s for the past three months.

“I’m learning new things every day and it’s fantastic. I’ve had nothing but positive things happen since I started working here. From the HR staff that I first met, to the people that I now work with – everyone is wonderful,” Ian said.

Housekeeper Jacqueline Hambley is also enjoying her career change from Retail to the caring industry and said she felt St Vincent’s deserved the award from ETC.

“The staff here are lovely, everyone is kind, caring and helpful, and they work really hard. I really wanted to work here as I enjoy helping people,” she said.

Mr Brierley said recruitment could be quite a challenge and that having organisations like ETC helping with this process certainly took some of the pressure off.

“We’re very happy to partner with ETC,” Mr Brierley said.
