Anyone touched by cancer will tell you what a harrowing experience it can be, especially when those affected are young children.
Camp Quality, with the support of ETC, has been touring regional schools in NSW last week delivering a cancer education program with the aid of puppeteers.
Camp Quality Coordinator Melissa Bell said the program helped schools to create supportive communities for any child affected by cancer, whether they are living with cancer themselves or have a family member with cancer.
“The program is free and fun providing an interactive and engaging way to dispel common myths and misconceptions about cancer in an age appropriate way,” Ms Bell said.
“We are very thankful that ETC is supporting the cost of 10 x Primary School Education Programs to run in regional schools during 2016. This will enable the program to be delivered to approximately 2,000 children throughout Regional NSW,” Ms Bell said.
Natalie and her eleven year old son Joshua attended the Narranga Public School event in Coffs Harbour this week.
“Joshua was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was twenty-two months old. Camp Quality has been wonderful during this time, not only supporting Josh but they support our whole family,” Natalie said.
“Josh really liked the puppet show and thinks it will help him at school. He loves the camps he goes on with Camp Quality and to just be around children who are going through a similar experience. Knowing that he isn’t alone and making friendships.”

ETC’s Chairman Rod McKelvey said it was a pleasure to be able to support Camp Quality.
“The ETC Community Support Fund is designed to help organisations reduce disadvantage, generate opportunity, increase support services and/or build capacity in the communities in which we operate,” Mr McKelvey said.
“ETC is proud to be a not-for-profit company and we are confident the money we are donating will help make a more positive future for our community.”
