Would you like to find out what employers want in the Childcare industry?
We met with Amber Humphries who is a Childcare Centre Director, to gain insight to help job seekers who are interested in a Childcare career.
Watch our interview here, otherwise there is a breakdown below.
What qualities do you look for when hiring staff?
Good rapport with children
Neat and tidy appearance
Unfortunately no piercings in this industry
Happy and friendly
Gets along well with others
Interview Tips
Be confident in your abilities
Be prepared – even if you bring notes for yourself, call up prior and find out what questions are going to be asked of you
What stands out to you in a Resume?
Not necessarily qualifications, as you can be studying or undertaking a traineeship
A big thing that stands out to us is when people are jumping from different things to different things. For example, random unrelated training qualifications. We tend to steer clear of people like that as we are looking for job seekers who are passionate about working in our industry and not just trying everything and anything
Thanks Amber!
Do you need training to help with your Childcare career?
Training in the child care industry will develop your skills and knowledge required to provide care for individuals and groups of children, and to plan activities facilitating their leisure and play, enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes.
ETC provides a Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
