A mature-aged person with computer

Do you have a jobactive client that is mature-age (45 years and older) and needs help gaining employment, skills or training?

ETC’s Career Transition Assistance (CTA) Program is a new initiative to help older people build their skills and confidence to be competitive in today’s job market.

With a strong focus on digital technology, CTA aims to help boost IT skills and expand job prospects.

“Using smartphones, tablets, Apps, social media and computers is the way of the future, so we’re here to help people ‘get with the times’,” said ETC CEO Jenny Barnett.

“Our Program will include a digital self-awareness module to help break down any barriers older workers are experiencing with modern technology.”

ETC’s CTA Program Manager Gerard Klinkers said the Program would also include personalised career assistance and experiential group activities.

“Above all, we really want to boost mature-age people’s confidence and skills. We will help them to prepare a Resume, write job applications and cover letters based on their individual skills and experiences,” Mr Klinkers said.

“ETC understands that adults come with real-life experiences. Therefore, our focus is to empower them to grow and develop through our interactive and supportive program.”

ETC will be providing CTA in the following locations: Tweed Heads, Palm Beach, Coomera, Southport, Grafton, Lismore, Bryon Bay, Ballina, Tuncurry, Taree, Port, Kempsey, Nambucca and Coffs Harbour.

ETC Referral Process for CTA – information for jobactive Providers

ETC will work proactively and collaboratively with all jobactive Providers in each Employment Region to promote the CTA Course and encourage referrals of eligible job seekers.

  • All jobactive Providers can search for and view the CTA Course in a region.
  • Participant Referrals will be made by the jobactive Providers to a CTA Course by creating an activity placement and scheduling Participant requirements in the Department’s IT Systems.
  • A Referral to CTA can be made at any time as per the flexible rolling start model of the program. jobactive Providers will make Referrals using the Department’s IT Systems.
  • At the point of Referral, the job seeker will choose their CTA Provider from those delivering services in the relevant Employment Region. jobactive Providers are required to refer job seekers to the CTA Provider chosen by the Participant.
  • On the same or the next Business Day the Referral is received, ETC will arrange an Initial Meeting with the job seeker.
  • Attendance at the Initial Meeting is considered the first day of participation in CTA – noting CTA is to be completed over eight weeks.
  • If, during the Initial Meeting, ETC believes the Participant is not suitable for the CTA Course or will not benefit from CTA, ETC will cease the commencement. ETC will update the Participant’s placement status in the Department’s IT Systems and advise the jobactive Provider that it has not accepted the Participant into the CTA Course.
