Business people are being urged to review their social media strategies to ensure that they have a LinkedIn company page to market their business.

ETC’s Business Programs Manager Kevin Riddell said LinkedIn is the largest professional network in the world, with more than 500 million users in more than 200 countries.

“LinkedIn is no longer a site just for resumes and CVs. Unlike other social media platforms, it is geared solely around creating professional and business connections. We are finding that businesses that know how to market on LinkedIn are reaping big results,” Mr Riddell said.

ETC is delivering a series of LinkedIn workshops to help small business operators learn how to optimise LinkedIn to market their businesses.

Mr Riddell said the workshops will cover the following topics:

  • Optimising profiles for better results (both personal profiles and company pages)
  • Making connections – who with, how-to and best practices
  • Newsfeed posts, interactions and content
  • Personal branding and business branding as it relates to LinkedIn
  • Searching – how to get the best results, understanding search strings and setting up search alerts
  • Advanced tools, and paid LinkedIn features

“According to a recent social media marketing industry report, LinkedIn has now surpassed Facebook as the #1 most important social media platform for B2B (Business to Business) marketers,” Mr Riddell said.

“The research showed that 80% of B2B leads come from LinkedIn, and 94% of B2B marketers use LinkedIn to distribute content.”

ETC’s LinkedIn workshops for small business will be held in the following locations:

  • Port Macquarie – Friday 16 February, Rydges, 11.00am – 2.00pm
  • Coffs Harbour – Thursday 8 March, C.ex, 11.00am – 2.00pm

The workshops will be presented by LinkedIn expert, Anna McAfee.

“Anna is an experienced, independent LinkedIn trainer who is passionate about helping local businesses leverage off the power of LinkedIn. She is so passionate about the platform that she set up local LinkedIn meet-ups, which is a concept that has now been copied globally,” Mr Riddell said.

“We encourage local business operators to take time out of their day to attend these workshops. They will learn how to use LinkedIn as a business development tool and gain customised, hands-on, practical advice.”
