Enterprise and Training Company (ETC) is excited to be working with Rydges and Sails Port Macquarie to provide workplace based training for local job seekers as part of ETC’s WorkIT Program.
The two week intensive training courses ‘WorkIT Food & Beverage’ and ‘WorkIT Housekeeping’ was designed to provide students with valuable insight into what it’s like working in the Hospitality industry; in addition to giving Rydges and Sails the opportunity to hand select the best fit for their team when recruiting for new staff.
General Manager Justin Boydell said the company was looking for ways to broaden how they could find and hire staff to meet their specific needs.
“We met with ETC to look at doing a training program based in our venues. This enabled us to really see how the students adapted to our working environment and business operations. We could see who the shining stars were – which led to us hiring two of the students,” he said.
“ETC have been great to work with. They were very adaptable and flexible to our needs.”
ETC’s Lower Mid North Coast Training Manager Paula Skinner said ETC was committed to working with employers to meet their needs and finding sustainable employment for local job seekers.
“These programs focus on students learning as a small group directly in industry whilst under the supervised guidance of their trainer/ coach. They provide students with the opportunity to “learn by doing” whilst developing strong relations with customers and other staff,” said Ms Skinner.
