Gold Coast woman Judith Ogden found it difficult to know what action to take, or what the future would hold after her husband was diagnosed in 2006 with Early Onset Alzheimer’s.

Seeing a flyer for ETC’s Certificate III in Aged Care and Home and Community Care course, Judith quickly applied. “ETC has been absolutely wonderful, I would highly recommend them. Michelle our trainer was excellent. She looked after us and then helped us to find a work placement,” Judith said.

Judith finished the course and was offered a job straight away at Melody Park.

Tammie-Lee Harris – Director – Small World Child Care Centre

ETC partnered with Small World to deliver a five week intensive training course ‘WorkIT Childcare’ was designed to provide students with valuable insight into what it’s like working in the Child Care industry.

“The Centre was proud to be involved with this program. We’ve never done anything like this before and the outcome was fantastic. We found the whole experience to be positive and rewarding,” Ms Harris said.

Tarni Wild – Small World Child Care Centre

Tarni was employed full time by Small World at the conclusion of ETC’s WorkIT Childcare program and she now works as an Assistant Educator.

“I was very excited when I found out because I’ve wanted to do childcare all my life. I’ve always wanted to work with children,” Tarni said.

“Doing the actual real life training with ETC made me feel more confident. It was really good. Rather than just doing the training in class and then getting thrown into the deep end.”
