CHC40421 – Certificate IV in Youth Work

The Certificate IV in Youth Work qualification reflects the role of workers who develop and facilitate programs for young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people. This work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and youth sector agencies and workers will be:

• responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation
• largely self-directed with fairly autonomous decision-making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager

What does the course include?

This qualification comprises of 17 units.

• 15 core units
• 2 elective units – 1 elective unit must be from the elective list, up to 1 unit from the elective list, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.

All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification. However, it is preferred that candidates have relevant vocational experience and/or an industry specific qualification. There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this course.

Student Support

Learners will receive feedback after each assessment/assignment and the trainer/assessor will be available to discuss the feedback or provide additional assistance or direction as appropriate. Trainers/assessors are also available by email/phone for any discussion or problems that students experience during their study.
