We met with Sam Millman, a Frontend Manager at Woolworths and our Employer of the Month, to gain insight to help job seekers who are interested in a Retail career.

What qualities do you look for when hiring staff?

I look for people who are quick, have a friendly personality, smile, have good customer communication, are trustworthy and dedicated/motivated to work.

What are your interview tips?

Look at how you present yourself, first impressions will matter. E.g. a singlet, thongs and board shorts will not impress so much.

Act like you want to be employed and put energy into that. 

Let us know what you want to do, where you want to see yourself within our company, your goals and your passions.

What stands out to you in a Resume?

The impression I get of the person handing the Resume in is more important to me than the actual Resume itself. I want to see what they are like, how they present, how they talk and whether they are actually excited about dropping off their Resume or just doing it because they feel like they have to.
