With the Hospitality industry ramping up for its peak season, we thought we’d share some insight into what it’s like to work in hospitality.
20 year-old Neil Urquhart, is a Food and Beverage attendant who secured himself a job at the prestigious Rydges and Sails by Rydges Resorts, thanks to some training he received through ETC.
Neil shares his experience on why he loves working in this industry.
“I love working in Hospitality. Working behind the bar I get to talk to a variety of people and I really enjoy having these conversations – finding out where they are from, hearing about their travel stories and if they are having a bad day I can try to help fix it.
I’m working between 2 venues which means every day is different and I get plenty of variety. I help with setting up for and assisting at functions (which is great exercise, I do around 20,000 steps a day). I really love it.
Right now I’m just working and saving for University so I can go study Marine Biology, which I’ve wanted to ever since I was six years old. I’ll need to work while I’m there to provide an income for myself, so having this Hospitality experience and training now should enable me to get a part-time job while I’m studying.”
