Empowering young women means creating opportunities for confidence, skills, and community connection. That’s exactly what the Kempsey Show Society is doing with its new development program – and ETC is proud to help make it happen.
Thanks to a $15,000 grant from the ETC Community Support Fund, the Kempsey Show Society has launched an initiative designed to help young women in the Macleay Valley reach their full potential.
The program focuses on building confidence, setting goals, and developing essential life and career skills such as personal presentation, interview techniques, networking, and community involvement.
The Kempsey Show Society is well-known for hosting events that celebrate local culture and agriculture. Now, they’re extending that commitment to community development by supporting young women with tools and opportunities to thrive.
Through this program, hosted at and in collaboration with ETC Kempsey over 6 weeks, participants gained practical skills and confidence to navigate personal and professional challenges. Activities include:
They also received:
Throughout the program, participants engaged in role-playing, hands-on workshops, and panel discussions with inspiring local businesswomen and previous Young Woman of the Year winners.
These experiences aim to help young women build resilience, independence, and a strong sense of self-worth.

The ETC Community Support Fund was established in 2012 to back community organisations creating opportunities for growth and inclusion. By funding programs like Kempsey Show Society’s development initiative, we help remove barriers to confidence, skills development, and future employment.
This partnership reflects ETC’s ongoing commitment to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for everyone.
ETC CEO Damon Munt said the organisation is thrilled to support this initiative.
“The Kempsey Show Society’s new development program for young women is a fantastic initiative that helps participants build confidence, set goals, and enhance essential skills,” said Mr Munt.
“ETC recognises that barriers to employment often start with a lack of confidence and access to resources. By funding initiatives like this, we help remove those barriers and provide practical tools for success – from interview techniques and networking skills to personal presentation and career planning.”
To mark the launch, ETC and the Kempsey Show Society hosted a special event attended by Mayor Kinne Ring, local councillors Julie Coburn, Noel Selby, and Arthur Bain, and Federal Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan MP. The event celebrated collaboration and explored future opportunities to support youth in the region.
Since its inception, ETC has proudly invested over $3 million into projects that empower individuals and strengthen communities – including $2 million in the last three years alone. Learn more about ETC’s Community Support Fund >
