ETC’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

ETC is committed to promoting reconciliation throughout our services and the ways we engage with the community. We are passionate about embracing the three key RAP pillars of Respect, Opportunities and Relationships for everyone who engages with ETC regardless of their race, religion or socio-economic background. ETC’s RAP is one of the ways in which we achieve our Vision and Mission and live by our values. Having delivered on our latest Stretch RAP (August 2022 to August 2025) and reached the significant milestone of supporting reconciliation for 10 years, we are now developing a new Stretch RAP for 2026 to 2029.

Our new RAP will include new and innovative actions and deliverables to guide us on our ongoing reconciliation journey and ways to work together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, organisations and communities to help achieve meaningful and positive impacts. It will support the five dimensions of reconciliation – Race Relations, Equality and Equity, Institutional Integrity, Unity and Historical Acceptance.

Celebrating 10 Years of Reconciliation – ETC’s RAP Journey & Milestones

In 2025, ETC proudly celebrates 10 years of commitment to reconciliation.

Since launching our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in 2015, we’ve remained dedicated to building respectful relationships and creating meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations, and communities.

Over the past decade, our RAP journey has evolved alongside our organisation — including two major expansion periods in 2015 and 2022. Throughout this growth, reconciliation has remained a core focus, guiding how we engage, support, and collaborate with First Nations peoples.

Key Achievements:

  • Embedded cultural awareness across our organisation
  • Supported thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers
  • Partnered with numerous First Nations businesses

This milestone is not only a celebration of the progress we’ve made – it’s a reaffirmation of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and to walking together toward a more inclusive and equitable future.

ETC’s RAP Barometer Results

As part of our commitment to reconciliation, ETC participated in Reconciliation Australia’s 2024 RAP Barometer. This national survey measures the attitudes and perceptions of staff across organisations with a Reconciliation Action Plan. It helps us understand how our team feels about reconciliation and where we can continue to grow.

The 2024 results reflect strong support for our reconciliation journey:

  • 99% of staff feel confident engaging respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • 94% believe learning about colonisation and past government policies is important
  • 86% support truth telling initiatives
  • 85% are interested in participating in reconciliation activities
  • 88% have seen senior leaders speak passionately about reconciliation internally
  • 93% want ETC to maintain or increase its reconciliation efforts

These insights show that reconciliation is not just a priority at ETC. It is a shared value that guides how we work together and support our communities.
