ETC Announces Cherry Street Sports Ballina as Employer of the Month

Ballina’s recently refurbished Sports Club, Cherry Street Sports, has been named ETC’s Employer of the Month.

Cherry Street Sports HR & Functions Coordinator Fiona Siviour said the award came as a great surprise.

“We employ about 50 people and some of our staff have been with us for 30 years,” Ms Siviour said.

“We offer a variety of different roles ranging from Greenkeepers, to Bar Staff, Kitchen Hands and Administration Staff.

“We try and create a fun and family-friendly culture but essentially it’s all about providing the best possible service to our members.”

Ms Siviour said when she was recruiting for new staff she focused more on attitude than skill.

“Skills can be taught but attitude cannot. We have a real emphasis on positive attitude and trying to get everyone to be part of the team here at Cherry Street,” she said.

“The use of job agencies such as ETC and social media have been a good way for us to meet our recruitment needs.”
