ETC Announces Small World Childcare Centre as Employer of the Month

Small World Childcare Centre on the Gold Coast has been announced as the Enterprise & Training Company Limited (ETC) Employer of the Month for December.

The family owned and operated Centre opened its doors back in 1989 when the owner had a dream of opening her own childcare centre, which now employs thirteen local staff.

Small World Director Tammie-Lee Harris said they were very proud to receive the award.

“It’s like one big happy family here. Some of our employees have even been here since they were babies themselves,” Ms Harris said.

“One of our staff members who has been employed for over ten years recently left us to have a baby. It’s been amazing to see her grow from a teenager, to now a mum herself. She’s gone through to get her Diploma to be a room educator and now completes her journey through motherhood. A lot of the skills and knowledge she can now put into practice.”

The Centre provides Traineeships, which gives their staff the opportunity to learn on the job and then further advance with a Diploma.

“We believe continual education, and the updating of skills and knowledge is imperative to ensure the optimum of care is provided to the children whose safety, wellbeing and education are entrusted to us,” Ms Harris said.

“It’s a rewarding career being part of the children’s lives and watching them grow.”

The Centre utilised ETC to help with their recruitment and training needs.

“We’ve just hired 3 new staff, who from day one have shown initiative, dedication, and commitment to their roles and responsibilities. And that has continued to show during the past 3 months,” Ms Harris said.

“The whole ETC team was very warm and welcoming. We have a lot of trust in them and appreciate their versatility.”
