As a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity, ETC has helped many organisations reduce disadvantage, generate opportunity, increase support services and/or build capacity in the communities in which we operate through local community grants.
In 2021 a selection of ETC staff had the opportunity to put forward their ideas and brainstorm which organisations they wanted to receive support as part of ETC’s philanthropic commitment to the community.
“Since 2012 ETC has invested more than $1 Million into local communities and we are proud to continue this in 2021, with $475,000 allocated to organisations dedicated to supporting vulnerable people,” said ETC CEO Jenny Barnett.
ESuarve (Gold Coast)
E Suarve’s core focus is providing opportunities, guidance, life skills, mental well-being programs and pathways to employment for disengaged youth.
ETC’s funding will assist with the purchase of a bus, which will help transport youth to and from E Suarve’s programs.
OzHarvest (Gold Coast)
OzHarvest’s mission is to “Nourish our Country” by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need.
The support from ETC, will help OzHarvest to provide an additional 200 cooked meals a week to vulnerable people in the community, in addition to distributing rescued food.
Deadly Futures (Gold Coast & North Coast)
The Gold Coast Titans Deadly Futures program is an experience for high school Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students that covers Indigenous Timelines, Cultural Identity and Career Aspirations.
Delivered in partnership with the Preston Campbell Foundation, students are guided on a pathway to a great understanding and sense of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture.
Now with assistance through ETC, Deadly Futures will open up opportunities to run the program in Northern NSW for the first time, plus 2 rounds of the program on the Gold Coast.
The S.H.I.F.T Project Byron, Inc. (Byron Bay, North Coast)
SHIFT supports women through the challenges they face moving from homelessness to independence. They strive to create a long term sustainable shift towards sustainability and reconnection with the community.
SHIFT has recently established a social enterprise Linen SHIFT, laundry with a conscience. ETC works along side SHIFT to support women entering the workforce and was able to fund a washing machine and dryer stack for the laundry in 2019. ETC is excited to announce they have recently supplied SHIFT with a brand new Toyota delivery van.
Desert Pea Media (Coffs Harbour, Mid North Coast)
DPM is an organisation that works with Indigenous young people and communities in regional and remote areas of Australia.
Their collaborative projects utilise contemporary storytelling techniques and audio-visual media to facilitate important social and cultural dialogue.
With ETC’s assistance, they will deliver a two-week collaborative storytelling project in Coffs Harbour, which will engage Indigenous elders, young people, and community members in the production of a song, music video and short film.
ShoreTrack (Nambucca, Mid North Coast)
Nambucca’s ShoreTrack program, provides vulnerable young people (aged 15-25 years old) with the holistic, flexible, and long-term support they need to develop work and employability skills, engage in education and training, find jobs, and participate in their community.
Using facilities located in Macksville and Valla, ShoreTrack are now developing Industry Spaces. The industry spaces will help build the confidence of our young people, as well as employability and trades-based skills and provide a safe space where young people can learn in a supported environment. ETC’s funding will be used to purchase a sheet metal press and cover the wage of a full time Facilitator for 2 years.
“As Australia begins to recover and open up after the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to be in a position to offer funding to these diverse organisations and support their worthwhile initiatives to make a positive impact on peoples lives,” said ETC Board Chair Rod McKelvey.
