A former manager of the ETC family was diagnosed with a terminal cancer at the start of 2020. Our employees were devastated by the news and felt moved to do something to show their support.
ETC’s Transition to Work Business Relationship Advisor, Evan Mita, came up with the idea to host a charity golf day to raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland.
“I spoke with our Chief Operations Manager, Damon Munt, who said that he was more than happy to support the day as it was for an excellent cause,” said Mr Mita.
The charity golf day was held on Friday 25 September at Emerald Lakes Golf Course, Carrara.
“Emerald Lakes is an excellent course for holding such an event. Their Event Manager also does a fantastic job to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.”
Mr Mita said the event was a huge success with ETC exceeding their fundraising goal of $2000.
“Thanks to the generous support of local businesses we were able to raise a grand total of $5587. The day was also successful due to the passion of our staff in coordinating this community event,” he said.
Proceeds from the event will go towards cancer research, in the hopes that terminal cancers will be treatable in the future.
“I really think that involving Cancer Council Queensland is a great idea as everyone’s family member or close friend has been touched in some way by this dreadful disease.”
Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan thanked ETC for their support.
“3944 people are diagnosed with cancer every year on the Gold Coast,” said Ms McMillan.
“Cancer Council Queensland conducts life-saving cancer research at the Viertel Cancer Research Centre, and also invests in groundbreaking cancer research projects.”
“Without the support and generosity of fellow Queenslanders like Mr Mita and ETC, we would not be able to improve cancer treatment and work towards our vision of a cancer free future.”
ETC would like to thank and acknowledge the generous support from local businesses for the ETC Charity Golf Day:
