ETC supports the Mid North Coast for 30th B’Day

In celebration of its 30th birthday in March, ETC is keeping true to its company ethos by giving back to local communities.

ETC CEO Jenny Barnett said the company was celebrating its birthday by giving away $300,000 as part of the ETC Community Support Fund and by coordinating a Corporate Volunteer Day for its staff.

“It’s not really our style to throw a big party so instead we are keeping true to our values and giving back to local communities,” Mrs Barnett said.

Mrs Barnett said ETC staff were really humbled to have participated in the company’s first ever Corporate Volunteer Day on Saturday 16 March.

“ETC now employs more than 300 staff across our footprint, which extends from Forster/Tuncurry in the south to Coomera on the Gold Coast, many of who gave up their time to participate in the volunteer day,” Mrs Barnett said.

“Our staff were involved in all sorts of projects designed to help disadvantaged members of our communities.

In Taree our team of approximately 14 volunteers assisted Catholic Care Services and Taree Community Kitchen with a free community BBQ at Fotheringham Park and handed out toiletry kits with essential supplies for those in need.

ETC’s Chief Operations Officer Damon Munt said ETC was all about improving peoples’ lives through its core business of employment and training services.

“Our role is to help the unemployed find meaningful work, upskill people to become more employable and help meet local employer’s recruitment needs by finding people who are the best fit for their business,” Mr Munt said.

“Since 1989, ETC has helped more than 72,000 people find jobs; trained more than 34,000 people and assisted close to 40,000 small business operators.

“We would like to thank local businesses for supporting us over the past 30 years by employing our job seekers and undertaking our training courses.”

ETC Chairperson Rod McKelvey said the next round of the ETC Community Support Fund opened on 18 March – 15 April 2019.

“This year as part of ETC’s birthday celebrations we are delighted to be in a position to increase the funding pool to $300, 000,” Mr McKelvey said.

“As a not-for-profit company, ETC is committed to supporting local community groups and we are thrilled to have been able to give back more than $1M since the ETC Community Support Fund began in 2012.”
