Meet Crystal and her award winning approach as a Disability Employment Services frontline worker

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our dedicated ETC Recruitment Adviser, Crystal Meyer, who has been honored with the inaugural Rex Eagle Practitioner Award at the Disability Employment Australia ‘Ready for Reform’ Conference 2024!

The Rex Eagle Practitioner Award recognises disability employment frontline workers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to participant-led employer engagement and deliver services of the highest quality.

Crystal has been recognised due to her unwavering dedication to fostering “human connection” which has made a significant impact on the lives of many people seeking employment with an injury, illness or disability.

She is an advocate for inclusivity and understands that a diverse workforce brings fresh perspectives, creativity, and resilience to a business.

A personalised approach to Disability Employment Services (DES)

As a DES Recruitment Adviser at ETC for the past two years, Crystal plays a crucial role as the liaison between Jobs Advisors, participants, and employers.

Her approach is highly individualised. She spends time understanding her customers barriers and goals, before matching them with a suitable employment opportunity.

“I connect with participants personally, understanding their motivations, fears, goals, and aspirations. This trust-building allows me to recommend ideal candidates to employers.”

“I then actively collaborate with team members in my office and other locations to secure long-term employment opportunities for our participants,” shares Crystal.

This approach has yielded fantastic results for Crystals customers.

Community engagement and building strong relationships

Community engagement is also integral to Crystals role. She passionately educates employers about the benefits of hiring individuals with an injury, illness, or disability.

These efforts have forged strong relationships with over 50 employers, including major companies like BP.

“One of my strengths in employer engagement is my deep understanding of participants and my genuine desire to understand business needs,” said Crystal.

She describes her role as diverse, encompassing daily communication with employers on behalf of participants, providing ongoing post-placement support, and ensuring sustained success.

ETC’s DES Program Manager, David Cameron, expressed his pride in Crystal’s commitment.

“I am extremely proud to see Crystal win the Rex Eagle Practitioner Award. Her commitment to our participants’ well-being and her tireless efforts in advocating for meaningful employment opportunities exemplify the spirit of this award.”

“Her unwavering dedication to fostering human connections has transformed many lives during her tenure with ETC. This approach aligns perfectly with our organisational vision, mission, and core values.”

Congratulations to Crystal on this well-deserved recognition!
