A Bindaree worker holding meat

Are you interested in a career with Bindaree Food Group?

We met with Bronwyn Quirk, HR Coordinator for Bindaree Food Group on the Gold Coast to gain insight to help job seekers.

Watch our interview here, otherwise there is a breakdown below.

What qualities do you look for when hiring staff?

  • For key roles such as Forklift Drivers and Knife Hands we look for people with previous experience in a similar environment
  • For roles such as Processing Operators, many of our new recruits didn’t  have this experience so we looked to hire for attitude and train for skill –
  • We want people who are optimistic, positive and who want to work with us
  • We look for people who can follow instructions and comply with our processes – this is very important in the work that we do given the high food safety requirements in our industry.

Interview Tips

  • Take interviews seriously and invest the time in preparation.
  • Present yourself in the best way possible to help you advance to the next step of the recruitment process (keeping in mind that you have competition from other candidates)
  • Undertake some research so you have some knowledge of our company – this shows that you are interested
  • We look for people who are genuinely looking for an opportunity to get ahead
  • Candidates should be both honest and positive in their responses

What stands out to you in a Resume?

  • Stable employment history is one of the key things we are looking for
  • We want people who want to work with us for a long period of time, not someone who will only stay for a few weeks or months
  • Add a simple cover letter explaining why you are interested in working with us. This will show that you have taken the time to look at the requirements of the role, rather than just clicking “apply now”
