The Coffs Harbour Innovation Centre boardroom has come alive with 12 wonderful cartoons now on display.

The cartoons are on short-term loan from the Bunker Cartoon Gallery.

In keeping with the objective of the Innovation Centre to attract entrepreneurial businesses, particularly in Information Technology, a number of caricatures are of people well known in that industry such as Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, George Lucas  and Daniel Zuckerberg.

Heroes such as Albert Einstein, Fred Hollows, Cathy Freeman and Ang San Suu Kyi are depicted representing the aspirational side of high achievers.

Many high and quiet achievers start a business and draw inspiration from such heroes who have reached their hero status with persistence as well as assistance from mentors and peers.

The founder of the Cartoon Collection and local hero, John Champion, is also depicted, as well as the flamboyant owner of Virgin airlines and serial entrepreneur, Richard Branson.

Fran Stephenson from the Board of the Bunker Cartoon Gallery advised that this collaboration between the Innovation Centre and the Gallery is very timely as the 25th Anniversary of the collection is marked this year.

“Our very own Bunker Gallery is the only cartoon gallery in Australia and boasts a collection of 17 500 cartoons, which is considered one of the largest of its type in the world,” Ms Stephenson said.

The Bunker Cartoon Gallery is located in John Champion Way, off City Hill Drive and is open Mon – Sat. 10am – 4pm.

The Coffs Harbour Innovation Centre is located in the Technology Park of the Coffs Harbour Education Campus on Hogbin Drive.

It offers entrepreneurs looking to explore a business idea access to office space, business planning and mentoring and a boardroom for client meetings and presentations.

The boardroom of the Centre is also available to those businesses who are not tenants of the Centre to use for meetings and presentations.
