ETC Announces PJ’s Fruit & Veg as Employer of the Month

PJ’s Fruit & Veg Lismore has been awarded as the ETC Employer of the Month.

The locally owned business operated by husband and wife duo Natasha and Brendon Garred prides itself on providing a family environment for its staff.

“Our staff are more like friends than colleagues. We’re all friends on social media, we go out to dinner together and know what’s going on in each other’s personal lives.  Plus our kids are here regularly and know the staff well,” said Mrs Garred.

“We make sure to acknowledge special milestones for our staff and accommodate their needs for time off. We also like to give our staff the opportunity to attain qualifications by placing them into Traineeships.”

The iconic produce market store was first established 20 years ago by Brendon’s parents. He and Natasha took over 10 years later.

“We’ve also expanded the business by opening a second store at Alstonville which has a lot of the same suppliers. We’ve tried to continue my parent’s legacy by supporting local farmers and stocking more of their produce,” Mr Garred said.

“We like to do something different to the supermarkets and enjoy knowing that we are supporting another small family like ours, not just a massive corporation.”

Natasha and Brendon thanked ETC for the support with staff recruitment and training for their two stores.

“So far we have employed four staff through ETC and will continue our relationship because they are so personable and approachable,” said Mrs Garred.

“They have always found the best fit for our business and understand how important customer service is to us.”
