Coffs Harbour was given an opportunity to meet with and gain insight from burns survivor, motivational speaker, humanitarian and athlete Turia Pitt thanks to ETC BusinessLeaders.
The sold-out event hosted over 320 guests at Novotel Pacific Bay Resort for networking, lunch, photos and an inspirational presentation from Turia on Wednesday 27 July.
ETC Marketing Manager Sally Petersen said guests travelled from far and wide to hear Turia’s story.
“Ten women from Ballina hired a mini-bus to come down for the event as well as two best friends making the road trip down from Byron Bay,” Mrs Petersen said.
Mrs Petersen said Turia’s main messages for the audience was the importance of setting goals and having a positive mindset.
“She spoke about the importance of having a positive mindset and how that dictates the way we respond to challenges and how we cope with difficult situations,” Mrs Petersen said.
“Turia also encouraged the audience to be brave enough to take that first step into the unknown because that’s when greatness happens.”
During the event guests participated in an ‘Appreciation session’ facilitated by Mike Symonds from local team building business Funergizers.
Guests wrote down who or what they are most appreciative of in their lives. The responses included partners, family, work colleagues, friends, our country, mentoring, support and encouragement.
Feedback from several guests after the event was that they found the event both uplifting and inspiring.
“Turia was absolutely sensational and after what she’s been through its amazing the positive approach she has to life. As she said – you can either curl up and die or get up and have a go. My takeaway from her presentation was to get out there and have a go and never give up – from both a personal and business perspective,” Regional Executive for ANZ Wayne Edwards said.
Mrs Petersen said ETC BusinessLeaders events brought nationally renowned speakers to regional areas to inspire and motivate local small business operators.
“Our Mission is to provide the business community with a networking and learning environment to support business growth, innovation and sustainability,” Mrs Petersen said.
“We couldn’t do this without the support from our local Partners ANZ Bank, Coffs Coast Advocate, Prime 7, DFM Financial Group, Park Beach Plaza, Slater & Gordon, Coffs City Council, TCA, CornerPost Consulting, CHY FM, Novotel and Funergizers.”
