Kempsey will be in the spotlight at the end of the month with two finalists from the area in the National Employment Services Australia (NESA) Awards.
Eversons Food Processors is one of three finalists nationally in the Champion Employer of the Year category.

“We would like to thank ETC for nominating us. We have worked closely with ETC over the past five years and have established a really good working relationship where they understand our business and actively help us meet our staffing requirements.”
Kempsey’s Peter McMahon is one of three finalists nationally in the Achiever of the Year category.
The 52-year-old has overcome significant barriers since moving to the area in June 2011.
“When I first arrived in Kempsey I had little money, limited skills, no job and no self-worth,” said Mr McMahon.
“I signed up with ETC and they helped me get my life back in order.
“My Employment Consultant Dena Mullens suggested I undertake an Aged Care course due to the skill shortage in that area and although I was reluctant at first, because I didn’t know any male nurses, I decided to give it a go.”
Peter gained a nationally recognised dual Certificate III Aged Care/Home and Community Care in November 2012 and after nine months of intensive job searching and despite several knockbacks he finally secured a position with Macleay Valley House in August last year.
He hasn’t looked back since.
“I love my job. It’s so rewarding,” Mr McMahon said.
“I jump out of bed to go to work now and that’s never happened before in my life. I wish I had started working in aged care years ago.”
Winners of the NESA Awards will be announced at a gala dinner in Melbourne on Monday 28 July.
