Manning students benefit from ACMF music program

The Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) is a not-for-profit organisation inspiring creativity and imagination by providing weekly music education classes and instruments to disadvantaged children and youth at risk throughout Australia.

The program targets kids at risk of disengagement, underprivileged kids, as well as kids with special needs. The program is designed to keep kids at school and out of trouble “prevention is better than detention.”

The program has increased school attendance rates by 75% and has had a major impact on the behavior of the children throughout local schools in Taree NSW.

Across Australia, a dedicated team of ACMF teachers motivate, educate and inspire disadvantaged children and youth in free, long-term weekly music programs.

Over 75% of Australian Public Schools do not have access to a music teacher, depriving them of the many benefits of music education. The ACMF is determined to change this.

Businesses from the Taree community came together and raised over $20,000.00 to keep this music program going for the kids attending the local public schools.

Enterprise & Training Company (ETC) provided sponsorship towards the ACMF Manning Valley Music Program.

ETC Team Leader for Taree Lesley Zarb and Jobs Advisor Lorna Black attended the recent Christmas Cocktail Party and met with the founder of the Australian Children’s Music Foundation and well-known musician Don Spencer OAM.

“This was truly an inspiring night. It felt great to be part of such an amazing cause changing the future of the children of our community for the better,” Lesley said.
